Letter from Sue Concerning Human Greed and Indifference to the Suffering of Animals - 14 Apr 2005

Hello, I found your website by chance. I have been diligently surfing the web for the past couple of weeks looking to see what animal abuse sites are on the Internet.

I really am at a loss to describe how I feel about the pictures I have seen, while I have been researching facts, from every animal you can think of being slaughtered in the most inhumane ways, the disgusting force feeding for foie gras, killing for fur, clubbing seals, it just goes on and on.

I am absolutely appalled at the likes of certain celebrities who are notorious for wearing fur, and even promote the wearing of it by designing new clothing lines with fur. So called 'celebrities' unfortunately have such a lot of influence on weak minded people, or maybe I should say on their deluded 'fans' who admire them and even strive to be like them and yet you have Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Star Jones to name but a few who openly flaunt the fur they are wearing as if it's their right to be wearing it just because they have money. Like it makes them more watchable, glamorous, rich or something. It really aggravates me that they know where the fur comes from, they have been sent videos and pictures, but they just don't care. They can afford it, they like wearing it, so they have the right to wear it if they choose. What happened to compassion, making a choice NOT to have an animal killed for you so that you can steal it's skin? I just don't understand them.

People think these celebrities are beautiful. How can someone be beautiful if they are knowingly wearing the skin of an animal? It's not theirs to wear. It belongs to the animal and I find it completely disgusting, ignorant, selfish and mind numbingly evil that any human can treat another living creature with total disregard just for the sake of fashion or whatever.

I am not against animals being used for food. I have been thinking about it for a while. I am totally 100% against the way they are reared and slaughtered for food. I am a vegetarian. I will not eat the meat of an animal or fish that has led an absolutely torturous life and then been murdered in a most awful fashion because so called HUMANS have deemed they can do whatever they want as long as they can make money out of it.

But if humans were to never eat cows, pigs, chickens, sheep etc again, then what would happen to these animals? Would we still need cows for milk, then what about when they were no longer producing milk, chickens were no longer producing eggs et al?

Humane, compassionate treatment from birth to death for every animal, and everyone understanding the animals feel exactly how you would feel if it were you being treated that way. That is my wish if I were ever to be granted one wish. But from what I see and hear there are way too many people out there who just think animals 'are ours to do what we like with'. And the helplessness of it all is frustrating me beyond belief.

Thanks for your time

Sue

Dear Sue:

Thank you very much for writing.

You're absolutely correct about celebrities and the influence that they have on the general public. that's why we need to expose the truth so that "their public" will look upon them with disgust.

As a vegetarian, you obviously realize that humans don't need any animal products to survive and live a long and healthful life. If we no longer raised animals for food, we wouldn't breed them as we do, and the ones that remained would live long and happy lives on sanctuaries.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
