Letter from Lyndon about Our Recipes, God's Intent, and Bananas - 25 Oct 2005

Thank you, I enjoyed your recipes for bananas and plantains but was puzzled about the quote underneath

"I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food"

The reason is that banana and plantains are sterile and done have seeds.

Dear Lyndon:

Thank you very much for you encouraging compliments, and for your question.

In the beginning, bananas did have seeds, and occasionally you will see the remnant of the seed in the center of a banana. The bananas that we buy in the markets have become sterile through years of selective breeding. So, God's intent to have us eat plant foods still holds true for the banana.
