Letter from Pan Smith about Her Granddaughter and Animal Rights - 17 Jan 2006
I have just visited your web page and found it wonderful. My granddaughter, Stephanie, is quite devoted to animals and animal rights. She has become a vegetarian in support of her beliefs. She has also had several heated arguments with local people about their misconceptions about some wild animals. For example, she really read the "riot act" to a fellow student who said that wolves were savage killers who should be eradicated because they served "absolutely no purpose." The students at her school know that they don't talk negatively and cruelly about animals when she is around. She is presently planning to go into some kind of conservation work when she graduates from college. All I can say is, "You go, girl!" Her interest and passion is natural to her because she comes from a long line of animal lovers who get their pets from the humane society, have them neutered, keep their shots and other health issues taken care of, and take our partnerships with great responsibility.
Stephanie is currently writing a book, with pictures, for elementary school children on the importance of animal rights. She is only 13 and we are so very proud of her.
Your web page will be a tremendous asset to her as she progresses in her learning and her activities to encourage responsible and compassionate animal care and treatment.
Thank you and best wishes,
Pam Smith
