Letter from Beth Buhler about Ministry to Animals and Alternatives to Animal Agriculture - 30 Mar 2006
Hi,
I was briefly looking at your site, as I was searching for articles on the horse meat industry. First of all, I have to commend you on the amount of discussion and links you provide. Most sites merely provide some one-liner mission statement without explaining further, whereas yours provides adequate detail. However, I would like to ask, in regards to one of the articles, would you say that animals then have to be saved, if the Great Commission says to go and preach the gospel to every creature?
I was also wondering what denomination you affiliate yourselves with? As well, why do you compare horses to dogs and cats as pets? Do you have an alternative to meat production for all the animals that are present on earth right now? I assumed from your website that you advocate not using animals for agriculture at all. Do you not think that because of basic human nature, if the profit is removed from the industry, many people will choose to neglect their animals rather than pay money to keep them healthy? I havent heard any animal welfare groups offering money to producers to maintain the animals without abusing and killing them. Thank you for your time.Beth

Dear Beth:
Preaching the gospel does not not have to be in a human language, for far too many people do not live by what they say. We can preach a much more convincing gospel by living the life of Christ and through the sharing of His love and compassion for the whole of creation. This is the way that we can also communicate with non-human animals.
Also, there is no way to raise animals for food in a humane manner. We not looking for less suffering, we're looking to eliminate it altogether. The alternative? Take a look at our recipe section: www.all-creatures.org/recipes.html
