Letter from Jenny Moxham about the Brutal Chinese Fur Industry - 7 Jul 2007

To: Letter to the Editor

I have just viewed footage of the treatment of dogs in China and I think that with the Beijing Olympics coming up in 2008, it warrants a boycott.

In the video, dogs were repeatedly beaten and smashed to the ground to dislocate their shoulders. Their feet were then chopped off and they were strung up by one leg and the skin peeled from their writhing bodies. Finally, the fur was cut from their faces and they were tossed onto a pile - still blinking - to die slowly and in agony .This is the way the Chinese treat many dogs and other fur bearing animals to provide the popular trim for clothing.

Surely this the ideal time to let China know that we won't tolerate such atrocities
