Letter from Guido About Veganism and Catholicism - 19 Mar 2009
Dear people,
I am a vegan since the mid sixties, after 13 different doctors failed to heal all my diseases (6), and I had to do it on my own.
To your knowledge, have any Catholic churches in the US or Canada, adopted the educational materials produced by Hallelujah Acres under the leadership of The Reverent George Malkmus? I believe he is a Baptist Minister. And he has developed a large following in many protestant churches. I hate to see the Catholic Churches lag behind.
As a Catholic I would like to see some local Catholic Churches start putting together health seminars using his excellent DVDs, books etc., especially in this hard economic times where so many of our people have lost jobs, and their health insurance, or are faced with increased co-payments when going for medical care.
As a health nut (what I call myself) for so many years, going on 79, I have no personal doctor, nor am I on any medication, and I'm still full of piss and vinegar.
Drop me a note.
Regards, Guido

Dear Guido:
Thank you very much for writing.
We have not heard of any Catholic church that has adopted a vegan diet for reasons of either health or compassion. And, we agree it it very sad.
Also, when we consider the number of Protestant churches, there are relatively few that truly promote a vegan diet.
We agree with you about the health aspect of a healthful (non-processed) vegan diet. We are only a few years younger than you, and we only see a doctor every couple of years for a check-up, and we take no medication.
We also host a veg-Christian email discussion group. Would you like to be on it?
We look forward to hearing from you again.
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank and Mary
