Hi,
I was listening to a radio show and they talked about zoo feeding parks in China and I got curious to check it out on YouTube and I got really pissed off, by watching this sadistic show where Western tourists flock around the cruel scene of goats being eating alive [by captive zoo animals]. I always knew about the cruelty of these Chinese people against all forms of living beings.
Then I got interested to see what others did and I came across with your website. I must say I don't know exactly why this has such an effect on me, but I really get angry at these people and I don't know what's going on with us, with you Americans, with us Argentinians, that we want to see this shows. We want to eat that meat. But I don't understand how I could help from here to eliminate this problem, because it's everywhere.
I'm very concerned about these issues and I deeply appreciate that you bring information about this calamity to the rest of society. I really hope there's something changing. This can't be like this. I feel ashamed of being a "human being."
Over the time and efforts you put on this, have you managed to obtain any success? Have you managed to make policymakers wake up and try to find a solution for this?
I'm from Argentina and this is obviously not a big issue. However people here are very kind to animals in general.
Kind regards,
LuisReply from Frank and Mary Hoffman
Dear Luis:
Thank you very much for your letter and compassion, and for wanting to help. We are also very concerned, and it's things like you describe that led us to begin and continue in our ministry and mission.
Yes, over the years we have seen some improvements. Our major thrust has been to reach Christianity and the religious communities around the world, and we've been seeing more compassion entering the churches than ever before, and we're always looking for more people to help us with this effort either through their own churches or through grass-roots ministries. Is this something you might be interested in helping with?
We have also seen more animal cruelty laws coming on to the books, particularly in the USA and Europe, and more people switching to a vegan lifestyle for reasons of compassion, and to set an example before others.
We also host a veg-Christian email discussion group and have a weekly e-newsletter. Would you be interested in being on these lists?
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank and Mary
