Letter From Amanda About Images of Cruelty on Our Site - 20 Aug 2009

WHY is it necessary to post the pictures of the animals being tortured???

You could have simply wrote a few paragraphs on WHAT YOU HAVE DONE to stop animal cruelty like the poor kitten set on fire alive, rather than post the GRAPHIC images on your "pro-animal welfare" website.

Do tell me, what good does that do to post photos of a kitten being burned alive? We all know that there are terrible people out there that do terrible things. I do not need to see that to know that truth. So I beg you, PLEASE take the pictures down, at least the ones of the burning kitten. They serve no purpose.

It is a tragedy, but I would suggest in place of those pictures, maybe put information as to what people can do when they find torture videos or photos online. If someone is stupid enough to put a video of that online, then they are stupid enough that someone can find out who they are prosecute them.

Thank you for your time,
Amanda

Dear Amanda:

Thank you for writing. We'll do our best to answer your question.

People rarely change their lifestyles by someone reasoning with them. Mostly they seem to need to have their emotions shocked into realizing how their lifestyle is contributing to the suffering of billions of animals every year. People need to speak out about the horrors they've seen and demand an end to them. And, that video of the burning kitten did lead to a prosecution, and it is helping to improve and establish laws that make such acts a felony.

And remember that our compassion begins on our plates, where we eat a vegan diet.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
