I’M shocked.
I’ve just learned that St James the Great church, St Kilda East, provided a sausage sizzle following the recent St Francis Day pet blessing ceremony (Critical list, Leader, September 28).
Were these vegetarian sausages? Presumably not.
St Francis Day – otherwise known as World Animal Day – is the one day of the year when kindness and compassion for animals should be encouraged.
It’s a day when churches should be calling for a boycott of factory farms, not supporting and endorsing them.
