Letter from Hugo about Children and Animal Cruelty - 23 May 2012
As a child in El Salvador, I engaged in animal cruelty.
My friends and I lived near a forest where there were lots of reptiles, rodents, birds, etc. We were largely unsupervised and used slingshots to go after animals.
I think most of us outgrew such horrible practices by the time we were 12 or 13.
In fact, I developed great sympathy for animals by the time I was 13 or 14.
Now in my mid-forties, I look back with regret to those experiences. I feel my childhood was somehow marred by that violence.
Just my thoughts.

Dear Hugo:
Thank you very much for telling us about the cruelty you participated in as a child. Thankfully you grew out of it.
You are not alone in these kinds of experiences. Many people have done similar things, but few talk about it.
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank and Mary
