It's been suggested that we keep kids occupied during COVID-19 self-isolation by
letting them watch virtual footage from zoos.
But this time of self isolation might also be a fitting time to reflect on
the fact that, for no good reason, zoo animals are compelled to spend their
entire lifetime in self isolation.
They can never leave their compounds or roam freely. They can never live
with their herd or flock and do the things they would normally do in their
natural environment.
How would we feel if self isolation was made permanent for us?
I’m sure we wouldn’t enjoy it and I’m sure they don’t either.
