Executive director of Cal Dining said that Tyson uses small, family owned farms. I knew I had to prove him wrong, so I flew across the country to visit a Tyson owned facility to see the reality for myself and show UC Berkeley my findings.

Please tell UC Berkeley and Cal Dining to STOP funding animal cruelty and to immediately cut all ties with Tyson Foods. It’s time for them to step up and do the right thing.

Today I am exposing Tyson Foods, the largest meat producer in the world and one of the primary suppliers to the dining halls at my university, UC Berkeley.

In spring semester of 2021, the executive director of Cal Dining, the dining hall system at UC Berkeley, told me that Tyson does not use factory farms. He repeatedly justified UC Berkeley’s decision to use Tyson Foods, bragging about having worked with them for many years. He said that Tyson uses small, family owned farms.

I was completely shocked and confused. Tyson has been investigated and exposed numerous times. Tyson supplies to McDonalds, KFC, and other major fast food chains. They are the largest meat producer in the world, and 99% of animal products come from factory farms! The things he was saying made no sense, but he wouldn’t listen to me.

I knew I had to prove him wrong, so I flew across the country to visit a Tyson owned facility to see the reality for myself and show UC Berkeley my findings.

I found hundreds of chickens who could barely walk and who were slowly dying of starvation and dehydration. There were flies everywhere, even on the live birds. The floor was covered in feces and there were dead bodies everywhere. I have sent all of these findings to UC Berkeley and I have not yet received a response.

Please tell UC Berkeley and Cal Dining to STOP funding animal cruelty and to immediately cut all ties with Tyson Foods. It’s time for them to step up and do the right thing.
