(Elderberry, American, Black, or Common (Sambucus canadensis L.) - 11a) When in the bud stage, the individual flower buds of the common elderberry are easily seen, even from several feet away, but once they begin to open into flowers, the cymes take on a white fuzzy appearance, and they have to be observed much more closely to see the individual flowers.
