(Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) - 01) As strange as it may seem, the black locust, a tree that can grow to heights of 40 to 100 feet, is a member of the pea family, Fabaceae. And, like peas, the black locust fixes nitrogen in the soil, providing nutrient to surrounding plants and trees.
