Animal Rights Poetry and Prose from

It's Up To Us By Sandra Isobel Kyle, May Safely Graze

When I lose my faith in people
When my heart is heavy and sad
I recoil from all the suffering
I despair at all the bad.

We are so cruel and ignorant
We've eyes, but we are blind
We fight and kill and torture
Ourselves and every kind.

The natural world's a nightmare
I tell you not a lie
The majority of animals
Lead agonising lives.

If there's a Creator
I'd like to have a word
What on earth were you thinking
When you created Earth?

Then suddenly the answer comes
I think I see the light
If God does not exist then
It's up to us to put things right.
