I Won't Shame You
By Rachel Hamill
An Animal Rights Poem from All-Creatures.org

All of God's creatures have rights, a fact that most people don't seem to recognize. This includes both human and non-human animals, but not all of them can speak for themselves.

I Won't Shame You

I am not going to try and guilt you into doing the right thing,
I am not going to depress you into feeling shame,
I am not going to blame humans any longer,
Because I know that you must be reading this because you care.

I will not tell you, you are evil,
I will not tell you that eating meat is a crime,
I will not tell you that you are against everything in what you do
I will not lie to you to get what I want.

I will not be a traitor to humans, because I have hope.
I will not judge the human race and say of how ashamed I am to be human.
I will not speak to humans as a whole, I speak to you.
I give you my hand and tell you that you can make a difference.
