Nose Spike or Separation of Calf from Mother
By Lynne Goldsmith

Which is better?
A nose ring or separation?

The spikes that hurt,
the cow that kicks
the ring that pokes,
the udder damage.

Not to mention
baby wanting mama
when ripped away within 24 hours.
Mother, too, crying.

We steal their milk,
steal their lives,
females as cash cows,
males to be killed.

So which is better:
spiked ring or separation?
No trapped cow answer.
