All of God's creatures have rights, a fact that most people don't seem to recognize.
This includes both human and non-human animals, but not all of them can speak for themselves.
Today I saw a butterfly
in flowers, fleeting softly by
On wings of soft and gentle flight;
I dare to dream someday I might
Know the magic of this gift,
feel the breeze beneath me lift
Up into the flowers' field,
the beauty of God’s earth revealed.
I shall see amazing grace,
a true reflection of His Face.
The warmth of sun will brightly shine
and lead the way until my time
Of flight has ended, now long gone,
back to earth and home sweet home;
And afterward the very sight
of the magic of winged flight,
My mind will soar and heart recall
that all creatures great and small
From the very largest beast
to a butterfly of least,
Each was made with God’s great love:
to walk and swim and fly above.
The human heart and soul and mind,
in their beauty shall we find
Strength within ourselves to be
respectful of all who breathe.
Today I saw a butterfly
in flowers, fleeting softly by.
