Words within us

Words whisper
in soft quiet moment.
In sway of branches,
and rustle of trees.

Words ripple and rage.
Storm-like,
they split the air,
wandering the land,
stirring the oceans.

Words carve out voices
for the voiceless.
Of animals,
and all species.
In eyes of fear,
bleats and whinny’s,
squeals and bellows.

What has become of this world?

No words from our planet:
Though she speaks to us
in rising seas
and desertification,
dying soil,
and searing wildfires.

Words within us
speak,
stir,
rally,
for us to have-heart,
even now.

To do better.
And rise up
against perpetual ignorance
and greed unbound.

To awaken.
To know our truth.
As words within us – beckon
for something...
more.
