AS DAY DRAWS NIGH
The comfort I find as day draws nigh,
Is greatly disrupted by times gone by.
Embracing the magic as the heavens rain down,
I drink in the sweetness of the sound.
Attention refocused on raindrops that fall,
My spirit is awakened - I hear the call.
The heavens attempt to wash us clean,
With tears of those no longer seen.
I ask myself "why?" and second-guess,
As the cool, crisp air soothes my hot flesh.
Do 'they' not seek the beauty to be found?
Are their eyes forever closed -- hearts forever bound?
The still of night now whispers its calm,
I listen carefully -- nature's music is on!
It's time to rest, but before I sleep . . .
A simple prayer, a promise to keep!
My brothers, my sisters, my brethren in kind,
You may be lost, but e'er on our minds.
