Every Moment That We Live
By Sandra Isobel Kyle, May Safely Graze

The blackbird on the powerline
Who's singing up a treat
Red streaks in the morning sky
The slippers on my feet

The kitchen smells of cooking
The recent smell of rain
The spider in the corner
Has changed her web again.

The precious little bichon
Who sleeps upon her paws
The chickens who run to meet me
They who I adore!

Walking around my garden
It would make me feel much worse
To think my plants were suffering
From neglect and thirst

To daily feed the sparrows
Blackbird, thrush and starling
I love to see them eat their fill
Angelic little darlings

I work all daylight hours
Then well into the night
I try to do whatever I can
To set this world aright

But soon it's time for sleeping
The stars are out and shine
Like diamonds in the darkness
That's their life, I have mine

They remind me I am nothing
But at the very same time
I'm everything that ever was
Although well past my prime

Every day I'm thankful
For the beating of my heart
And every moment that I live
Can be a brand new start

Life is to be cherished
And for what it's worth
I live each day as if it were
My very last on Earth.
