Man's Best Friend
By Tammy C. Smith

GOD in a mirror
what would HE reflect
beauty, peace, kindness
compassion, respect

GOD in a mirror
looking back at you
would you see HIS love
HIS forgiveness too

GOD in a mirror
HIS image would be
unconditional
acceptance of me

GOD in a mirror
who does he favor
a saint, an angel
a friend: I wonder

GOD in a mirror
would you please print just
GOD please write it - GOD
humor me: you must

GOD in a mirror
you humor me now
O.K. you got it
GOD: all written down

GOD in a mirror
you got a mirror
will you go get one
remember: humor

GOD in a mirror
Thank you! Almighty
hold up the name GOD
and what do you see

GOD in a mirror
G O D: becomes
D O G: backward
by reflection from

GOD in a mirror
GOD reversed - simply
reflected is now
man’s best friend! You see

GOD in a mirror
did I offend you
please forgive if so
I did not mean to

GOD in a mirror
I’ve no intention
to disrespect GOD!
I live for His Son

GOD in a mirror
it’s just that to me
it does mean something
in dog I do see:

Beauty, peace, kindness
I see his love for me
compassion, respect
unconditionally
his forgiveness, and
acceptance from he
a saint, angel, friend
in dog I do see

GOD in a mirror
it’s ironic, yes
that dog has often
been considered less:
Less than man’s best friend
Less than His likeness
simply reflected
