Animal Rights, Spiritual and Inspirational poetry that touch the heart and soul, and provoke the mind.
Mix a little sugar
and water,
chill it,
and hang out
a hummingbird
feeder.
Such a small
thing to do,
and, of course,
I do it
mostly for myself.
Yet
when they zoom in
from all directions ―
hovering,
dipping their tiny bills,
dancing with abandon,
chasing each other
up and down
and sideways,
I can’t help but believe
they are truly grateful
and beyond that,
they are exuberant,
they literally vibrate
with joy.
Well ― listen ―
can’t you hear them ―
humming
and chirping
with delight?
Yes, yes,
that’s just what
they are doing
and so,
dear friends,
am I.
