Benjamin and Oliver want to be out in the grass, they WANT to be out in the pool, they WANT to be out doing things that they typically do. But they don't leave Luna's side.
Benjamin, Oliver and Luna...
Luna - the female duck has osteoporosis and a broken leg. We have
multiple veterinarians analyzing her condition and determining how
best to help her. She is on crate rest. She can see the boys, but
she's being confined to a smaller space to keep her from moving too
much.
Each time I visit these three, my heart melts. Benjamin and Oliver
are sitting right there - next to the crate with Luna. They NEVER
leave her side.
The care team checks on her frequently and places the boy’s food
bowls next to her home, so that they can see each other while they
eat.
Benjamin and Oliver care for Luna by staying by her side and giving
her comfort.
Benjamin and Oliver want to be out in the grass, they WANT to be out
in the pool, they WANT to be out doing things that they typically
do.
But they don't leave her side.
It’s just like a wedding vow - "In sickness and in health I will be
by your side."
This show of love touches our hearts and brings tears to our eyes.
To witness this incredible show of love between individuals that
humans once discarded is our privilege.
Giving them a home and the chance to live their lives in love and
peace is our greatest joy.
Witnessing and sharing this love is Ahimsa in Action.
It’s truly unbelievable that we eat individuals who care and
demonstrate so much love and compassion for one another.
These innocent ducks teach us the meaning of Ahimsa by demonstrating
love and friendship!
