15 Years of Vegan Food Justice

FROM lauren Ornelas, FEP Food Empowerment Project
April 2022

We have spent the last 15 years promoting veganism for the animals, fighting for the rights of farm workers who grow and harvest the foods we all eat, increasing access to those foods in Black and Brown communities, and expanding awareness about the worst forms of child labor, including slavery, in the chocolate industry.

Food Empowerment Project

In 2007, I founded Food Empowerment Project (F.E.P.) because no other organization addressed not only my values regarding animal liberation, but also the treatment of workers and equity in the food system. I am so proud that we are turning 15 on May 1!

"Food Empowerment Project is a multidimensional organization that sets a standard for truly liberatory work that revolutionizes the world for humans and animals. They offer tangible ways to participate in movement building and they continue to pave a path forward that centers sustainability and compassion."

Thanks to your support, we have spent the last 15 years promoting veganism for the animals, fighting for the rights of farm workers who grow and harvest the foods we all eat, increasing access to those foods in Black and Brown communities, and expanding awareness about the worst forms of child labor, including slavery, in the chocolate industry.

All this work is made possible by you, and I am so grateful.

GO HERE to DONATE...

Right now, every donation up to $50,000 is being doubled. These donations are critical to our work, and I mean it when I say that every dollar counts. In 2022, your financial support will help us:

  • Expand our new anti-dairy effort, which includes our One Glass at a Time booklet, our GotColonization.org website, and our billboard ads.
  • Transform our Vegan Lao Food website into a full-color recipe booklet in English and Lao.
  • Support children of farm workers by collecting backpacks and school supplies so they can thrive in school!
  • Do a full redesign of our Chocolate List app.
  • Continue our access work in Pittsburg, California.
  • Spread F.E.P.’s unique message even further.

We need your help to continue growing and expanding. Will you commit today to supporting Food Empowerment Project?

"I support F.E.P. because the founder is a woman of color who is truly passionate about food justice. F.E.P. has a team of dedicated people who are making a difference in the lives of marginalized communities and the world. Why wouldn't I support an organization doing important work!"

Thank you for your dedication to justice for animals, humans, and the planet!
