From Brittany - 23 Dec 2004 Hello again I was just wondering what kind of action has been taken against the slaughter houses and what I can do to help stop horse slaughter? Reply from Frank and Mary Dear Brittany: It is very difficult to get the undercover proof necessary to change the practices of slaughter, as the government is on the side of the abusers. The latest undercover video by PETA disclosed torturous practices at a kosher slaughter plant. The changes that are being brought about are not coming from the US government, but from the Rabbis in Israel. The most effective way to bring about change is to expose the truth to the general public, either directly, or through letters to the editor, and to your elected representatives. If you are a good writer, we'd be happy to publish what you write, too, which will extend your coverage, and hopefully cause more people to speak out.
