Don't Quit: Who is the Author?

If you wrote this poem in 1990 please explain how it appeared in a book (The best loved poems of the American people, by Hazel Felleman) published in 1936? Ms. Felleman did not write the poem but compiled the works of many poets. I happen to own a copy of this book and read it often. One interesting fact, somehow between 1936 and 1990 you lost two lines from the third stanza.
The poem author was listed as Unknown.
