Horseback Riding and Animal Rights:
Can
They Ever Be in Harmony?
Comments by: Frank L. Hoffman - 23 April 2002
Dear Kathleen:
Thank you very much for your comments to our discussion on horseback riding.
I found your comment, "As a Christian, and a member of the clergy, I do have a problem with trying to be "more ethical" than Jesus", very interesting. I have always seen Jesus as encouraging us to do greater acts of love and kindness than He was able to accomplish while incarnate upon this earth, as He speaks about in John 14:12.
If the greatest commandment is to love God with every part of our being, then we should also love every one and everything that God has created. Furthermore, doesn't Jesus encourage us unto kingdom living in the Lord's Prayer where we are to pray for our heavenly Father's will to be done here on earth as it is in heaven?
There are many people who "love" humans and animals selectively and still exploit them and/or others. God's perfect love doesn't do this.
Our ministry has been to encourage others to expand their sphere of love and compassion until it becomes unconditional and infinite.
We look forward to hearing from you again.
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank
