In Reference to: Humane Slaughter Simply a Myth
Ms Moxham is completely right. Capture, transport and slaughter processes are geared primarily for speed and efficiency – the wellbeing of the animals is less important. Yet even if each animal was gently picked up from the farm and given a painless, lethal injection, we would still be depriving a healthy, sentient being of her life.
In the human context, murder is still murder no matter what the level of violence. The slaughter of a healthy animal for needless food cannot ever be 'humane'.
