Winter Wonderland - 23 Jan 2006
We woke up to a winter wonderland this morning!
When the weather turns colder, lots of people around here head for
warmer climates. And there are retirees who move south. As for us, we
wouldn’t want to miss the beauty of the snow and the fun of taking
photos of the gorgeous scenery.
I just came in from shoveling a section of the sundeck, the path to
our front door, and part of the driveway. Frank shoveled in front of the
garage earlier this morning and will finish the rest of the driveway
later. We really enjoy being outdoors, and besides it’s good exercise.
THE SNOW-LADEN PINE
By: Mary T. Hoffman
Published 27 August 1977 in The Daily Mail (Catskill, NY)
The stoic pine stands patient, tall,
With boughs outstretched to catch the fall
Of swirling snow on its descent
From sky to limbs all burden-bent.
He knows the sun's warm rays will shine
Once more to thaw his awesome weight;
Then imperceptibly the pine
Will lift his arms to celebrate.

"Joyful Curmudgeon"
An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the
same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the
world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true
peace and compassion.Blog
