A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

“My Heart Leaps Up When I Behold” – 25 Apr 2006
By Mary T. Hoffman

Since my schooldays, William Wordsworth has been one of my favorite poets.

Here is one of his poems that I find especially beautiful:

“My Heart Leaps Up When I Behold”
By William Wordsworth (1770-1850)

My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.
