"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Do you wonder, as I do, why the truth is so often hidden from the public and why so many individuals and organizations go right along with half truths and “doublespeak”?
Lies are more than a few spoken untruths. This world lives a lie. In effect, most inhabitants of this world cry out: “Lie to us! We want to hear lies! Make us feel good with lies!”
Reading John 8:43-47 offers help in understanding why so many people prefer to have “their ears tickled” rather than to face the truth.
In this passage of the Bible, Jesus speaks to the religious leaders of His day; but it’s obvious that things haven’t changed all that much since that time. Notice that Jesus calls the devil (Satan) “the father of lies” and tells those who are hard-hearted that their “father” is “the devil.” Jesus did not mince words!
43 “Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word.
44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.
45 "But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.
46 "Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?
47 "He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not
hear them, because you are not of God."
