Yesterday I wrote about the widespread betrayal of nonhumans and
the humans who really care about them.
Today I want to talk about the spiritual side of this betrayal and
the ultimate evil which is the betrayal of God. That’s right! In the
end, all this “humane” farming and “happy meat” propaganda plays right
into the hands of Satan, the devil – God’s enemy.
Nearly 3,000 years ago, Solomon the son of David, king of Israel
said: (Proverbs 12:10)
10 A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal,
but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.
Here we are now, in the 21st century, with all sorts of technological
advances and a wide variety of delicious, healthful food choices that
require no animal-derived products – yet most people choose to cling to
backward eating habits that are detrimental to other animals, humans,
and the environment.
Even “religious” people, who should know better, conveniently ignore
Genesis 1:29:
29 Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding
seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has
fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you."
This stubborn hardness of heart brings to mind John 8:43-47, in which
Jesus says:
43 "Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you
cannot hear My word.
44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires
of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not
stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he
speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the
father of lies.
45 "But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.
46 "Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you
not believe Me?
47 "He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do
not hear them, because you are not of God."
Strong words, right? Can you sense His frustration?
Then in John 14:12, Jesus says:
12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works
that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go to the Father."
It is obvious that the “greater works” that believers are to do
involve love, kindness, and compassion – not complicity in the
exploitation of God’s creation!
As the time of His betrayal approaches, Jesus says to His disciples:
(John 14:30)
30 "I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world
[the devil] is coming, and he has nothing in Me."
I’ll end this Blog with the following scriptures:
Jeremiah 17:9-10 –
9 "The heart is more deceitful than all else
And is desperately sick;
Who can understand it?
10 "I, the LORD, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Even to give to each man according to his ways,
According to the results of his deeds."
Isaiah 51:7-9 –
7 "Listen to Me, you who know righteousness,
A people in whose heart is My law;
Do not fear the reproach of man,
Neither be dismayed at their revilings."
Ephesians 6:11-12 –
11 Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm
against the schemes of the devil.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness,
against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
