Every time I see or hear animal-derived products such as milk or
cheese described as coming from “happy cows” or “friendly farms,” I’m
reminded of the “father of lies” aka Satan or the Devil.
You’ve probably also seen other words and expressions used to deceive
the public, such as “free range,” “natural,” “humane,” “happy meat”– and
the list goes on and on.
In John 8 of the Bible, Jesus accuses the religious leaders of that
time of listening to their “father the devil” and the “father of lies”:
John 8:44-45
44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the
desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does
not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he
speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the
father of lies.
45 "But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.

John 8:44-47
44 For you are the children of your father the Devil, and you love
to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning
and has always hated the truth. There is no truth in him. When he
lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the
father of lies.
45 So when I tell the truth, you just naturally don't believe me!
46 Which of you can truthfully accuse me of sin? And since I am
telling you the truth, why don't you believe me?
47 Anyone whose Father is God listens gladly to the words of God.
Since you don't, it proves you aren't God's children."

And this is exactly the way I also feel about the purveyors and
advertisers of animal-derived products.
