No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Omnivore? – 15 April 2009

This is a very well-written, intelligent assessment of the disturbing trend that I have been observing lately. For example, all the white-washing or doublespeak used to rationalize the killing of animals: the use of terms such as “humane slaughter”; the insistence on using the words “product” for “animal,” “process” for “killing,” and “processing facility” for “slaughterhouse.”

It is particularly puzzling (as well as disturbing) to realize that there are those who claim to have left vegetarianism and resumed meat-eating with a clear conscience by a rationalization that, in my opinion, is simply lying to oneself.

I’m so glad that there are others out there like Jill Howard-Church who has the courage to admit the truth.
