Catalogue of Agony
By Daniel North
An Animal Rights Poem from All-Creatures.org

All of God's creatures have rights, a fact that most people don't seem to recognize. This includes both human and non-human animals, but not all of them can speak for themselves.

Catalogue of Agony
By Daniel North

The distant murmur of distressed calls
Ring over the deadly sterile halls
The masked assassins gamble all their bets
As a dead sow is circled by her deprived piglets.

Changing the genes of immunity
Man and creature should just live in unity
As failures latch onto the lice of peracute rejections
When life is concerned, it's too late for corrections.

Succumbing to the madness of science
Engineering a new race without repentance
Slaying a colony of animals until they get it right
As my hand kindly blinds me from the torturous sights.

Cutting away, defying the gods
Rewriting the nature that they once trod
Meddling with the interventions of DNA
As a lab monkey cries for its pain to go away.

The answer is there-look closer- it will undrape
Without stealing the organs from the pig or the ape
Just so they can cut down waiting lists and increase profits
Jeopardising the futures that are filling the mass graved pits.

As I look on, I fear what I may find
What is really happening to mankind?
Looking over the catalogue of agony, the blood stained pages wheeze
Will we find the answer? Before growing extinct to a self created disease!
