But I'm vegetarian, so for sure I thought you'd be thrilled
that I don't eat animals who were abused and then killed.
Every day I rejoice that because of my choice,
no throat has been cut and no blood has been spilled.
But wait, what?
Are you telling me that farmers are selling me
the myth that there's no killing in eggs and in dairy?
That we kill mama cows and all egg-laying chickens
(and their babies)?! Heck, that's so darn wicked and scary!
So, I gather you'd rather I research the matter.
Which I will, 'cause I must do the right thing at last.
No halfway commitment to kindness and justice.
My paying for violence will be a thing of the past.
(And later that night …)
I did what you suggested. There was so much I learned
about dairy and eggs, that got me concerned.
When it comes to those industries, it's both slavery and slaughter!
(I'd scream if you did that to my mom or daughter!)
I do see your point and I'm thinking I oughta
be vegan and stay consistent with my values.
Yeh, I GOTTA!
