Animal Defenders of Westchester (ADOW) ~ Greenburgh Puppy Mill Meeting/COMPLAINTS NEEDED
From:
Animal Defenders of Westchester (ADOW)
January 15, 2020
Thank you all for coming out on this cold, rainy night to speak for those who cannot, at the first Greenburgh public hearing on enacting a pet shop bill.
Video of the public hearing can be viewed here:

Many lies were told, both by the pet shop purveyors and by
Greenburgh. Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner has completely reversed
his position on transitioning to having only shelter/rescue animals
available at area pet shops - though he likely never meant it in the first
place. He wasted a lot of people's time during an almost three-year effort,
only to now present a bill that totally favors the business community, and
allows all area pet shops to remain in business exactly as they are now,
selling commercially bred animals - as long as they have no 'complaints.'
This apparently would even include "Westchester puppies and
kittens" which was busted by the AG - and now has altered their name and
claims the AG lied about them, that they are a wonderful, caring facility.
He has wasted people's time and enormous efforts while repeatedly calling
himself an 'animal advocate' - which he thinks allows him to in fact blatant
ignore cruelty and profound enlightened change in Greenburgh.
This is completely unacceptable and frankly pitiful on Feiner's part.
PLEASE POLITELY EMAIL FEINER AND VOICE YOUR DISPLEASURE ON HIS REVERSAL
OF SUPPORT FOR THE FIRST BILL WHICH TOTALLY REVAMPS PET SHOPS IN ACCORDANCE
WITH ALMOST 300 SUCH SHOPS ACROSS AMERICA, HELPING TO DECREASE THE NUMBER OF
HOMELESS ANIMALS HERE WHO FACE BEING KILLED IN SHELTERS AND HELPING STOP THE
DISGRACEFUL OVERBREEDING PIPELINE OF DOGS AND CATS.
