The third Animal Blessing Service took place on Sunday 12th June 2011
at Wepre ‘United Presbyterian and Methodist Church’, Connah’s Quay.
North Wales The service was shared - as in previous years - by the
Minister: Rev. Elaine Hodge, and the Rev. James Thompson, the Animals’
Padre.

It was a pleasant day, not too hot, and the animals settled in
church, as soft music was played on the organ. There was a good crowd of
people with their pets, many church members, friends from the district
and outside, and quite a number from Buckley, Aston and Hawarden Animal
Aid, who support Capricorn Animal Sanctuary at Padeswood, near Mold.
Special hymns were sung and prayers said, and the highlight was when
both ministers took part in blessing the animals. This was most moving
and the animals were quite responsive. They seemed to know it was very
special. In fact I think they know and look forward to this gathering. A
collection was taken during the service, which was given by the church
to Capricorn Animal Sanctuary, which was greatly appreciated by Sheila
Stewart who founded it along with her late husband Tom.
After the service the ladies of the church provided refreshments,
which we were ready for after all the singing. People were able to stay
a while and chat, and meet up with old friends, either in the hall or on
the large lawn outside. Altogether a very happy day enjoyed by all.
