Dear Susan,
I am a vegetarian and so is my father, my daughter, my husband and many of our staff and volunteers.
I appreciate your love for the animals, but Little Tyke died in 1955 at the age of 5 or 6, I believe, and that would be the equivalent of a person dying at the age of 36.
When Purina tried to create a dry diet for exotic cats we spent two years trying to gradually switch the cats over by slowly increasing the amount of the dry diet to the ratio of ground meat. We could never get past a 50% ratio before the cats would quit eating entirely.
Many times we have rescued big cats who were being fed cat food, which has a lot of grain in it, and they always look awful. Skinny, paper-shell bones, sparse fur, etc.
The diet we feed now is produced by Natural Balance and the cats have been on it for about 4 years now. Judging by the way they look and act and live into their late teens and and twenties, I have to believe it is the best thing for them.
For the cats,
