How true re: were it not for the Christians- Gandhi would have become one. I don't believe I heard this before - but thanks to you, I will not forget it.

Sadly, so many of us "Christians" obscure the beauty of Jesus in our every day actions. We at St. Cyril's endured a forced merger. The church is beautiful and built with the meager funds of early Slovak Catholics in 1903. It no longer is called St. Cyril's but I have news for the bishop - it will always be St. Cyril's for me. In my opinion that is the heavy hand of the church at work.

Now there is a Franciscan priest who sadly is also heavy handed and in my view does not reflect the warmth and compassion of St. Francis.

I am glad that I am 80. Hopefully one day, I will not see any more of this sadness. But hopefully too, those of us who can "squeak" into heaven will spend it doing good for the animals as St. Therese said she would for sinners.
