Poetry, Essays and Art By J.H. Dickinson from All-Creatures.orgHappy hoppy cotton tail bribery
Chocolate eggs
Bounce of lambs
Daffodils resplendent
Newborn chicks
Calves taken from mothers
Mothers milked to death
Lambs strung up
Rabbits in labs
Male chicks - to the grinder
Festive feast gatherings
Suffering
In a lifetime
To fill the table
Remnants in the bin
A species
A creature
That watched the dawn
Felt the wind’s caress
The calls of its own kind
The hot breath of kin
Warmth
Ground under foot
Heart thrum
Alive but unaware of ownership
Commodification
Ill-fated product
Of consumptive
Human machine
Take away your narrative
Of festive bribery
I see your story
All too clear
