Falling Slowly
Poetry By Anthony James
Falling from a terrible height, I see you-
In slow motion, I watch helplessly,
I want to catch you-
But I get there too late.
You hit the hard concrete-
I reach out to pick you up-
You are so beautiful- I hold you-
You’ve turned yellow and red- in the cold fall-
You are dead. I can see you, leave-
But I know you had a wonderful life-
Full of sunshine and raindrops-
Your life was truly alive! You thrived!
It was your time to go-
I must put you down-
Upon the cold hard ground-
As many more, alike, land abound-
And it’s Autumn.
