Green Smoothie with Watermelon, Kale, and Bananas is a wonderful vegan recipe that will make 2 quarts of juice. We each have 1 quart of the smoothie for breakfast. If you wish to make less, cut the recipe in half.
Wash the watermelon if it is not already washed and cut. Cut the watermelon lengthwise into quarters, and wrap the quarters that are not being used in the smoothie with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator.
In a high speed 2 quart blender, place about half the watermelon pieces (with rind removed) in the bottom of the blender container.
Peel 2 of the bananas, and add the bananas to the blender container, forming a bowl in the center of the container for the flax seeds and stevia so that the seeds don't touch the sides of the container.
Wash and clean the fresh kale, and add to the watermelon pieces already in the blender container until it is nearly full with the fresh, frozen or cooked kale, add some ice, cover, and run the blender at high speed until the ingredients are smooth, using the tamper as required. If you are using frozen or cooked kale which take up less room, you should be able to put all of the kale in the blender before starting the blender.
While the blender is still running at high speed, add the remaining watermelon pieces, any remaining kale, and extra bananas and ice through the hole in the cover to fill the container and achieve the desired temperature and consistency of the smoothie.
Pour into glasses and serve with a straw. Enjoy!
The above recipe is in keeping with God's creation intent (Genesis 1:29-31): 'Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-- everything that has the breath of life in it-- I give every green plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.' (NIV) Let no animal suffer or die that we may live!
