Mullein tea is an easy to prepare vegan beverage that also helps to releave congestion problems associated with colds and flu. Preparation time is about 10 minutes, if the water is heated in the microwave oven.

There are two ways to make mullein tea from the dried leaves; the first way we usually use is to place a microwaveable glass 2 cup measuring cup 2 cups of water in the microwave oven for 4 minutes or until the water begins to boil.

Remove the measuring cup from the microwave oven and place a tea ball full of mullein tea leaves in the hot water to steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the tea ball, add sweetner if desired, and pour into serving cups.

The second way of preparing mullein tea is to place 2 level teaspoons or one heaping teaspoon of mullein tea leaves in 1 cup of cold water and place on the microwave oven for 2 minutes.

Remove the cup from the microwave oven and let it steep for about 5 minutes and then filter the tea through a fine tea strainer into a drinking cup.

Vegan FlagThe above recipe is in keeping with God's creation intent (Genesis 1:29-31): 'Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-- everything that has the breath of life in it-- I give every green plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.' (NIV) Let no animal suffer or die that we may live!
