We want to convey our deepest gratitude to all our supporters who, over the past forty years, have uplifted the work of ASI and in doing so, furthered the field of Human-Animal Studies. Whether you have donated financially, volunteered your time, joined as a member, or shared our social media posts, we recognize and appreciate your efforts to make the world a better place for nonhuman animals. Every action of support has had ripple effects that go beyond the walls of ASI, and our hearts are filled with appreciation knowing that the field of HAS will continue to flourish because of you.
It is with deep gratitude and appreciation for all those who have supported our work over the past forty years that we share difficult news: After much consideration and evaluation, the Animals & Society Institute will be closing its doors at the end of 2025.
Over the years, ASI has worked tirelessly to make a meaningful impact in Human-Animal Studies. Thanks to your dedication and support, we’ve been able to accomplish many important achievements.
Our programs, resources, and interventions would not have been
possible without your kindness, trust, commitment, and belief in our
shared mission to improve human-animal relationships.
However, it has become increasingly difficult to sustain our efforts
due to the financial constraints accruing in the fast-shifting world
of non-profit animal protection work. We have explored multiple
avenues to continue our mission, but ultimately, this decision is
necessary to ensure we close with dignity and integrity.
We are working diligently to find new homes for all our major programs, and we will keep you informed as to where you will be able to find them. As such, any generous donations we receive before the end of 2025 will be essential in helping us steward and transition our programs to new organizations in order to continue the important work we began.
Please know that this decision was made only after extensive deliberation and with a deep understanding of the impact it will have on all of us. As we move forward, we encourage you to stay connected, as we know our work has laid a foundation that others will continue to build upon in the future.
