WILD THINGS
By M. Linda Steffey

There are some who can live
Without wild things
But I for one cannot!
I believe to include the wild things
Helps to improve mans' lot!

Lured by the call of wild things
To understand their ways
Breeds compassion in mankind
Adds more meaning to his days...

Harmony with predator, prey
Nature works best this way
She does not need interference
No matter what hunters say!

If I could I would fly with geese
I would run with horses wild
My heart would beat in freedom
My eyes wide like a child...

I would be the fire in wolves' eye
I would be the wind 'neath the bird
I would search for a place on earth's face
Where there's never been a spoken word!

When it comes to conservation
We must change our internal thinking
We have the wrong philosophy
That is why our efforts are sinking!

Accept all creatures, mother ..our earth
All life in the seas, on the land..
Or we may never achieve harmony here
Any more than liberty for man.....
