Japan Threatens France & Denmark To Extradite Paul Watson: Remanded Until December 18 - December 4, 2024
Interview with Paul Watson - November 21, 2024
Facebook post from the Foundation - November 13, 2024:
How long can this go on? Enough is enough! Captain Paul Watson was once again sent back to prison for another 3 weeks, until 2 December, his 74th birthday. Today marks Paul's 6th court appearance, and the continuous delays are unacceptable. Paul Watson has dedicated his life to protecting our oceans and marine life, and now he is being unjustly held without a fair hearing. We demand justice for Paul Watson and the integrity of the judicial process. He must be allowed to submit his evidence.

Facebook post from the Foundation - 10/15/24:
Captain Paul Watson's Detention Extended Yet Again: No video evidence from the defense is allowed. Detention and case extended until October 23. "This is my 73rd day in prison. I've missed my children's birthdays, who just turned 3 and 8 years old. My accusers are criminals, and this isn't just my opinion—it's the judgment from the International Court of Justice and the Australian Federal Court." Captain Paul Watson Paul's fight for justice is far from over, and now, more than ever, he needs our voices to rise in unison. This isn't just about one man. It's about the future of our oceans, the defense of human rights, and the integrity of environmental activism. #FreePaulWatson... Sign the petition at www.freepaulwatson.org

A Letter from Paul Watson...

Captain Paul Watson was arrested in Nuuk, Greenland by Danish federal
police, who boarded the M/Y John Paul DeJoria as soon as it docked.
The crew had stopped to refuel while en route to the Northwest Passage as part of#OpKangeiMaru, ourcampaign aimed at intercepting Japan’s newly built factory ship, the Kangei Maru, in the North Pacific.
It is believed that this arrest is connected to a previous Red Notice issued for Watson’s anti-whaling activities in the Antarctic. This development comes as a surprise since the Foundation’s lawyers had reported that the Red Notice had been withdrawn. However, it appears that Japan had made the notice confidential to facilitate Paul’s travel for the purpose of making an arrest.
Although Japan has operated in violation of the ICJ ruling for several years, they ceased Antarctic high seas whaling in 2016 and now only hunt whales within their territorial waters. CPWF suspects that Japan intends to resume high seas whaling in the Southern Ocean and North Pacific by 2025 and believes the reactivation of the Red Notice against Captain Watson is politically motivated, coinciding with the launch of the new factory ship.
Paul is currently in custody, and it is unclear if Denmark will extradite him to Japan.
We need Paul released immediately! We urge the Danish government to
release Paul and reject this politically motivated request.

EMAILED ALERT FROM CAPTAIN PAUL WATSON FOUNDATION:
From Feel free to use the below text in your email and remember to be polite and refrain from making threats if you choose to add your own text:
To the Ministry of Justice,
I am writing to express my shock at the arrest of
Captain Paul Watson by Danish police in Greenland when the Captain Paul
Watson Foundation ship, the John Paul DeJoria docked for refueling.
The police said they were acting on a red notice issued by Japan for Captain
Watson's arrest because he dared to stand up against the Japanese whaling
vessels killing whales in international waters, in violation of the
International Whaling Commission restrictions.
Europe has banned whaling, and Denmark is part of the EU. I would not have
thought arresting a man who has done nothing but spend his life defending
marine life and our oceans was in the Danish public interest. Why act as an
enforcer for the Japanese whaling industry when no other country has felt
compelled to do so since the red notice was issued?
Please take a stand against this unjust act and prevent Captain Watson from
being extradited to Japan. The world is watching closely, and any harm that
comes to this dedicated defender of our oceans will be noted, affecting
Denmark’s reputation.
With hope and expectation that you will do what is right.
