Monita, Orphaned Monkey Baby

November 2013

Today I found a newborn monkey on the ground - cold and stiff with a long umbilical cord - no mom in sight. The little girl was covered with maggots and ants, I thought she was dead. When I touched her, she moved a bit and immediately I took her onto my warm body to warm her up.

It took hours to clean her up, maggot by maggot. Finally she was a bit better and responsive and drank a little milk.

She needs to be fed every 2 hours and kept warm.
